Mobile Backscatter X-Ray Baggage Scanner
This Mobile Backscatter X-Ray Scanner is a rapid deployable self-contained inspection unit; its design is based on a conventional transmission X-Ray baggage scanner together with a backscatter X-Ray baggage scanner mounted in a standard van.

By using both of these technologies this unit is capable of an extremely high level of detection for explosives, narcotics and alcohol, compared with a similar unit using only conventional transmission X-ray technology.

The system may operate on its own auxiliary power unit or on local ground power, and processes up to 1,500 parcels per hour.

Only one operator is required, the operator’s console is mounted on an arm that extends outside the vehicle during operation and stows inside the vehicle during transport.

Technology


The Mobile X-Ray Scanner offers superior detection capability by utilising proprietary Z® Backscatter technology in combination with traditional transmission imaging.

Conventional Transmission X-ray Scanner images offer high resolution and penetration for the detection of high-density materials.

Backscatter images provide important material discrimination information, allowing for rapid detection of organic materials.

By combining the ability to detect both organic and inorganic materials through the use of Backscatter and conventional X-Ray transmission imaging, the Westminster Scanning systems are an effective inspection tool for detecting weapons, plastic explosives, illegal drugs, agricultural products, currency, weapons of mass destruction and other restricted contraband.
